Block Paving Installation Process
01
Sub-Base Preparation
The foundation of every durable driveway starts with thorough excavation. We remove existing surfaces and clear the site to a specific depth, followed by the installation and compaction of a high-quality Type 1 MOT sub-base to ensure long-term stability.
02
Edge Restraints
Robust edge restraints are essential to prevent the blocks from migrating. We install concrete kerbs or matching blocks on a heavy mortar bed, creating a strong perimeter that defines the driveway shape and contains the paving blocks securely.
03
Laying Course
A consistent layer of sharp sand is spread and levelled (screeded) over the compacted sub-base. This allows for fine adjustments in the block levels and ensures a perfectly flat surface once the paving is completed.
04
Paving & Jointing
Blocks are laid in the specified pattern, followed by kiln-dried sand sweeping into the joints. Finally, the surface is compacted with a vibrating plate machine to lock the blocks into place for a rock-solid finish.
